Family members of Germans do not receive a residence card in accordance with the Freedom of Movement Act but are entitled to a residence permit in accordance with the Residence Act if they themselves are not EU or EEA. Your family members must obtain a visa from the embassy or consulate of their country of origin or of permanent residence.
All foreigners from outside the EU who wish to remain in Germany for longer than three months must obtain a residence permit Aufenthaltstitel of which there are now two types.
